Patti Goke

In March of 2014 I had been rosemaling 28 years. I am a rosemaler from Saint Cloud, Minnesota and I am fortunate to live close to the heart of rosemaling in the United States. Through the years I have taken rosemaling classes from the best painters and teachers from Norway and the United States. In 2007 I earned the needed points for the Vesterheim Gold Medal in rosemaling. I am the editor of the Vesterheim Rosemaling Newsletter and part of the rosemaling group on Facebook. I try to promote rosemaling and Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum (www.vesterheim.org) when and where I can.

I have studied and can paint most of the styles of rosemaling. I like to study the old and traditional rosemaling. Through several trips to Norway I have studied pieces in museums, churches and private collections. I believe one ought to have a sense of the roots of this folk art. I enjoy teaching and have done so from coast to coast in the US. It is rewarding to meet new people through classes and sharing with them the tools and encourage them to follow their own creative impulses.
